Thomas MacQueen (1885-1917)
Thomas Haycock MacQueen was born on 10 February 1885 in London, England, to Robert James MacQueen and Eliza Garden.

Eliza died in 1893 and Robert remarried his brother’s widow, Emily. She already had eight children with George (including another Thomas, also born in 1885), before having another two with Robert.
Thomas moved to Fernie, BC, where he worked as a painter and decorator. In 1909, he married Edith Watkin and the couple moved to Port Coquitlam. He enlisted in December 1915 – his form says he had six toes on his left foot!

Thomas was killed in action on 21 August 1917, aged 32. He was in the trenches north west of Avion.
