36. BROCKTON GRAVEYARD

Pioneer settlers were buried near Brockton Point. Homemade coffins, graves scattered among the trees, and headboards fashioned from rough lumber reflected the informality of pioneer burial practices. By 1888 the little cemetery had fallen into disuse.
